This year, we are presenting The Builder of Youth Lifetime Achievement Award to Wesley G. Armour. The Builder of Youth Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour that the Boys & Girls Club of Moncton can bestow upon anyone in the community. The award celebrates individuals who have or continue to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, through categories such as:
- Science
- Medicine
- Recreation/Leisure
- Sports
- Business
- Social Development
- Education
- Child & Youth Development
Past recipients of the award have included notable Monctonians like:
- Ernest Cottin
- J. Harold Wallace
- Judge Richard Miller
- Dr. Michael J. Cripton
- René (Pepsi) Landry
- Claudette Bradshaw
- Judge Michael G. McKee
- Douglas Bradshaw
- Robert K. Irving
Mr. Armour is deserving of this award for a great many reasons, including his mentorship, advocacy, and financial contributions on behalf of young entrepreneurs across New Brunswick. Mr Armour, along with his staff and family, have given countless hours and dollars in support of Juvenile Diabetes research, in hopes that one day we can find a cure. His work, and generosity on behalf of the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, The Universite Du Moncton, and the Boys and Girls Club of Moncton, amongst other organizations, has been incredible, and has truly made a difference in the lives of countless children, youth, and young adults. To say Mr Armour is an icon or an idol would be an understatement. He is truly an inspiration.
The Boys & Girls Club of Moncton is all about "Giving every child a
chance for a better future."
We are not just a club. We provide:
-
Consistency in uncertain times
-
Safety in time of need
-
Boundaries when their world is unclear
-
Food when the cupboards are bare
-
Comfort when their soul is craving
We provide the canvas for their dreams.
